In recent weeks, I’ve spoken with about a dozen people in the United States: investors and founders working in AI. In private, they told me what they won’t admit publicly: today’s models don’t learn continuously, don’t adapt in real time, can’t update themselves, and can’t be trusted in production. Yet billions keep flowing in, and top talent remains locked into an architecture that has already run out of steam.
The problem isn’t technical. It’s psychological, cultural, and financial. GPT-5 doesn’t mark a product failure. It marks a paradigm failure. Scaling the wrong paradigm won’t bring us AGI. It will only deliver a bigger illusion. Claude, Gemini, Grok, Llama: all headed for the same fate.
And soon, a massive ethical problem will explode. These AIs reflect the values of their creators, not those of each individual user. No ethical personalization. No respect for individual differences. When that becomes obvious, trust will collapse.
We either build cognitive AI, able to learn continuously, adapt autonomously, and integrate personal values, or it won’t be intelligence. It will just be imitation.
